What is Beauty?

What is it that you see before you? Tell me once you looked carefully.
A rose of beauty, that's what I see.
Why is it beautiful? What do you find?
Its appearance is like heaven, and its fragrance is angelic.
Is that all you see? Its appearance and scent?
What else is there to look at? What more do YOU find?
It is a rose, that I agree with you also.
The scent is sweet and the appearance of grace.
Then what difference is it from what I have said?
The difference is I see what you do not see.
What is it that I am missing? What else is there for you to see other than the beautiful blossom?
Look carefully again, the full rose once again
Look not only of the blossom, look deeper and with more care.
I see leaves and the stem, but what difference does that make?
Now touch the stem and tell me what you find.
There are thorns there that would pierce my skin, why would I touch it?
You finally understand what I saw when I first asked you "what do you see?"
I still do not understand, I was correct in saying there is a rose of beauty.
Though it is beautiful, it is filled with thorns. Like people in this world.
They will appear with grace and gentleness, but once you look carefully you will find their
thorns.
As much as the appearance would attract you in your life,
Look carefully and never over-look small things.
To know a person is like what you have just done.
Look beyond the blossom and beyond it's sweet scent.
Look deeply into the soul you find, and gain the treasures of TRUE beauty.
