Zork What-Do-I-Do-Now guide to The Cavern of Doom

Story Line: 5
Puzzles: 3
Pictures: 8
Endings: 6
Writing Style: 5

Story Line:a little weaker than the first two, without the urgency. However, this story manages to have a moral without being obnoxious, so it should get some points.

Puzzles:even easier than the first two. Really. See the previous review. "Don't take too much treasure." "If you're given a second chance, take it." The amulet that glows in the presence of evil gives nice hints. Still, the puzzles are done so they make an interesting story and help you see around Zork a bit.

Pictures:Very nice, overall. There are good "ugly" pictures(Grum and Grawl) and good non-ugly ones.

Endings:There are some exciting ones, like when you don't have the toll.

Writing Style:Unfortunately not as many side trips, and what there are seem thrown in there. There's a bit of a lack of tension without the kingdom at stake.

Links to ZORK: The amulet acts like your elvish sword(glows around evil). You dig for a ruby as in Zork 1, and the diamond machine is also part of a puzzle in Zork 1. It even behaves similarly to the machine in Zork 1. The dragon Leblong is also found in Zork 2, and you defeat him the same way as Bivotar and Juranda do.
