First,
Aala Re Paoos...take the rain song from the Amitabh-Smita Patil movie,
mix it with a couple of other typical rain songs from the late 80's and
early 90's, and you have Aala Re Paoos. Nothing even remotely original;
typical pre-jail songs of Sanjay Dutt's. Next!
The second song to bless my
ears was a ridiculous Kluk Kluk Kluk. (Koi samjaye mujhe samjaye mujhe
kluk kluk kluk) Juhi sings to Sanjay, and he sings back his idea of Kluk
Kluk Kluk. Okay, so lyricist Rani Malik had her fun in Hote Hote Pyaar
Ho Gaya with Haiyo Hikko Nikko Ni, and that was cute, but this is downright
silly. Imagine Juhi fluttering around in some Safari getup as she flirts
with big ogre Sanjay, who rumbles something silly about kluk klukking.
The music itself is again, a mix of older tunes. NO THANKS!
Tumse Mohabbat sounds like
the Dil era....the faith in love type of song, very unoriginal...I can't
recall the name of the song that it is a lift off of, perhaps because
it is mixed with several other of the "Dil and Saajan" era... not bad
to listen to, singing was passable, but as far as quality, not-so-great.
Passable
Side B started with Arre Tu
Hai is a fairly nice-sung duet laced with the typical Caribbean beats,
intwined with Indian instruments. The music in this song is the strong
point of the song...seems to be one of the better songs of the stale album.
Pretty good
Yeh Safari is a lift off of
an old Amitabh song (is it 'My name is Anthony Gonzales?), mixed with
some other old tunes, and caked with a tried-but-failed Kishore Kumar
mixed with Caribbean flavor to it. Singing is nothing worth listening
to. Sounds old and worn-out. Next!
The last song (we are almost
there!) is Koo Koo, another ridiculous attempt by Rani Malik at stupid
love lyrics...it's ANNOYING. I can imagine Sanjay and Juhi with stupid
grins on their face, trying to look as if they are in love when in actuality,
they are probably feeling quite stupid, prancing around singing KooKoo...wouldn't
you? This time, the Caribbean beat is almost satirical...like haha! Bollywood
can ruin the Caribbean music too...then switch to Hindi music! Another
way too silly song. Next!
Sum up: Old typical late 80's
early 90's music gone bad. Okay singing, stale music, many lifts off of
old songs, desperate attempts at the Safari feeling, ridiculous lyrics.
No thanks! Stale.
Quick
picks: Arre Tu Hai
"Blah picks": all the rest
