Premiere:

Sanjay Dutt starrer, Kartoos, took a fabulous opening thanks to some well-orchestrated hype and Ken Ghosh’s computer wizardry. With a ratio of three hits out of four releases the Dutt isn’t doing too badly at the moment.

Box Office Rating: AVERAGE 
What's it about?: A routine revenge story, inspired by the Hollywood flick, Point Of No Return. 
Strength: Sanjay Dutt's brooding performance. 
Weakness: Garbled script. 
Trade Facts: Producer Firoz Nadiadwala couldn't find buyers. So the film was released on advanced payment... meaning that if the film flopped, the producer would have to return the cash to the distributors. Mercifully, it never came down to that.

Mid-Day:

Kartoos, now in its third week, is drawing blanks at the box office. But the excellent first week collections will help it to sail into safe waters. Though Kartoos won’t do much for Sanjay or Manisha, it reaffirms that given a good role, Jackie can still prove to be gunpowder.

Indiaworld:

(1st Week): Mahesh Bhatt's Kartoos starring Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt and Manisha Koirala had got a bumper opening. However the collections have started falling. The film is quite poor in Gujarat and Delhi. The first week's collections of the film were 83% in Mumbai (from 14 cinemas) and 61% in Delhi (from 12 cinemas).
(2nd Week): Kartoos did good business in the first week. But the collections are falling from the second week. In Mumbai it is doing average business. The second week's collections of the film were 41% in Mumbai.
(3rd Week): Kartoos has also slowed down. The third week's collections of the film were 38% in Mumbai (from 6 cinemas).
