Filmfare Gala Premiere:

Gala premiere of Haseena Maan Jayegi held in Mumbai a couple of days back wasn't the same without the film's star, Sanjay Dutt. The actor, who is busy shooting for Chal Mere Bhai with director David Dhawan (who was also sorely missed yesterday) in Austria, has pitched in a performance worth raving about. While audiences and critics were certain they would get their money's worth from Govinda, good ol' Sanju's performance came as a surprise packet. His timing for comedy and his ability to send you into guffaws every time he makes a funny face, is something that will take him a long way... Also, he complements co-star Govinda perfectly, and at times even manages to steal the show himself. For those who'd written him off as a non-actor, Haseena Maan Jayegi is a must-watch.

Channel Bollywood Review

The film is about two brothers Sonu (Sanjay Dutt) and Monu (Govinda) who live life carelessly as they know their father Amirchand (Kader Khan) is gong to leave behind his riches to them. Amirchand is exhausted by the pranks played by his two sons on him to gain some money. Amirchand does not want to give his son money because he knows they are going to waste it. Amirchand's secretary Kunj Behari (Satish Kaushik) suggests his boss to separate the brothers to make them more responsible. Amirchand decides to send his son Sonu to Goa to fetch money from a debtor and Monu to his office.
In Goa, Sonu by mistake insults Gulzarilal (Anupam Kher) thinking him to be his father's debtor and falls in love with his daughter Pooja (Pooja Batra). Out here in Bombay Monu is in love with Ritu (Karisma Kapoor). But both are unsuccessful to blossom the flower of love in their dream girls' hearts. Sonu is the first to taste success but now he has to convince Pooja's father Gulzarilal. So in comes Monu to help his brother impersonate as Sonu's uncle. Monu comes to know that his love Ritu is also the daughter in the same house where he is staying. Monu thinks it will now be easy to win Ritu's heart. He manages to do that but in the interlude sister's aunt Santosh (Aruna Irani) falls in love with the uncle - Monu.

Amirchand decides to go to Goa with his secretary and get his sons back. He meets his friend Gulzarilal while searching his sons. In the end all the confusion is solved as everyone comes to know that Amirchand is the real father and he has no brother.

The film is a good comedy. Many will find it similar to David Dhawan's previous hit Aankhen. Me thinks it was more like the film 'Haseena Maan Jayegi' released a couple of decades back which starred Shashi Kapoor & Kishore Kumar in the lead. Every one has acted well in the film. A special mention has to go to Sanjay Dutt who has done a good job in synergy with Govinda. Govinda & Karisma Kapoor are the usual self as they are in David Dhawan's flicks - making us laugh. Kader Khan, Anupam Kher, Aruna Irani & Kader Khan have done their roles zealously. One felt that Paresh Rawal & Ashish Vidyarthi had insignificant roles. Music by Anu Malik does not stimulate you but is not bore also. Couple of numbers are good like the title song. Direction has the stamp of David Dhawan written all over it. The script has nothing new and the film is basically a remake with a new plot. But who cares if a film entertains you, there's nothing to complain. No complaints and have fun! Beware this is not for the ones who keep looking for logic. Just enjoy man!

Digital HT Haseena Maan Jayegi Review:

Coming close on the heels of his super hit Biwi No 1, this latest David Dhawan film stars his favourite Govinda paired with Sanjay Dutt. But as a comedy, this one is a bit of a letdown. Though one does not expect much of a plot in a David Dhawan movie, this one errs on the side of banking only on gags and songs, totally devoid of any storyline.
After starring with the Big B, Govinda this time tunes well with Sanjay . As sons of the rich Kader Khan, the two brothers spend most of their time fooling around girls but trying to find ways of milking money from the stingy father. After their blackmail bid fails, the two brothers are separated. Sanjay is sent to Goa while Govinda is forced to work in the firm of his father in Mumbai. And by sheer coincidence which can happen only in a Hindi film, the two fall in love with pretty sisters Karisma Kapoor and Pooja Batra.

Dhawan takes the viewers on a roller coaster ride of crazy situations and high volt music, giving one little chance to wonder about the logic of it all.A hilarious twist comes when acting as the uncle of Sanjay to help him marry Pooja, Govinda gets trapped in the amorous advances of the spinster Aroona Irani in the household of Anupam Kher.

Govinda goes through the tailormade sequences in his usual style and proves that when it comes to comedy, he is the undisputed king. But the real surprise is macho Sanjay who reveals an unexplored flair for comedy. And also he is no longer awkward in the dance steps and matches Chi Chi which is no mean achievement.

Karisma , who hit off with Govinda in some earlier movies, lends a breezy presence through her fast movements. Both she and Pooja have some of the finest pairs of legs in Bollywood and the cameraman exploits it to the hilt. Of the four, Pooja gets a raw deal and is almost reduced to a "guest appearance." Giving priority to his two main heroes and Karisma, the director fails to develop the character of Pooja.

Kader Khan, Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik add fun through perky dialogues. And Paresh Rawal sends everyone in splits in his Gorkha role.

Matching the pace of the film is the feet-tapping music of Anu Malik who comes up with a few catchy numbers. Haseena maan jaayegi…, What is mobile number.., Jane de, jane de, todi hawa aane de.. are already on top of the charts.

If racy music and comedy alone can ensure a film's success, then Dhawan might once again hit the bull's eye.
