Premiere August:

The first six months of the year saw Sanjay Dutt back in action after a long hiatus. Sanjay’s fiery guest appearance in Daag-The Fire got the film a bumper opening. Though the fire was doused soon, Raj Kanwar’s revenge drama did business of Rs 1.5-1.75 crore everywhere in India with the exception of Mumbai where it netted Rs 2 crore.

FilmTvIndia Box Office Review:

Inderjit Film Combines’ Daag - The Fire will complete 100 days in Bombay, Hyderabad, Aurangabad, Akola, Indore, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and other cities on May 22th. Daag - The Fire is expected to do business of over 2 crores in Bombay as well as in Delhi-U.P.

Stardust Box Office Review:

'Daag - The Fire' : The film that has marked Sanjay Dutt's return to the top bracket. Doing exceedingly well, it may even do wonders to the sagging careers of Chandrachur Singh and Mahima Chaudhary.

Indiaworld Box Office Review:

(1st Week): Raj Kanwar's Daag - The Fire did good business in Mumbai and other parts of the country. The excellent collections are contributed mainly because of bumper openings. The films's success meant a lot for all its stars -- Sanjay Dutt, Mahima Chaudhary, Chandarchur Singh and director Raj Kanwar. The first week's collections of the film were 86% in Mumbai (from 12 cinemas) and 82% in Delhi (from 2 cinemas).
(2nd Week): Daag - The Fire, which did very good business in the first week, dropped badly in the second week all over the country. The film will not entail heavy losses as it was very reasonably priced and recovered a lot from the excellent first week collections all over India. The second week's collections of the film were just 49% in Mumbai (from 9 cinemas).
(3rd Week): Raj Kanwar's Daag The Fire which got a very impressive opening but the collections are falling every week. The third week's collections of the film were 50% in Mumbai (from 7 cinemas).
(4th Week):  Raj Kanwar's Daag is just average. The 4th week's collections of the film were 35% in Mumbai (from 3 cinemas).
