The Dennis Ryan Collection of Streisand Memorabilia
Dennis Ryan died of AIDS in 1987. He was an obsessed Barbra Streisand
fan, collecting anything he could find on her, articles, magazines, posters, and
usually in multiples. He began his collecting when he was a teenager in the early 60’s
and continued up until his death in the late 80’s. His collection, which comprises this
catalog, will be sold with a portion of all proceeds going to an AIDS fund in Philadelphia.
There are some unusual aspects to the collection. The two scrapbooks that he
kept, now weighing in excess of 50 pounds, are a unique find. They contains hundreds
of pages of articles, photos, letters, covers, all about her life and her loves.
It is very hard to find a value for these two scrapbooks, and I hope they will
eventually go to another collector as enthusiastic as Dennis.
He also loved to sign his name, a drawback to collecting and selling, but I have tried make a note wherever he has signed his name, in the area marked “condition”, and the price reflects this. He did this particularly with books and LPs, but all Lps have been noted.
As far as rating the items, I have based it on a scale of Poor, Fair, Good, Fine, Very
Fine, with + and - indicating degrees above or below.
Poor- very low quality, could have damage
Fair- quality is questionable, much use or age is shown
Good- average use, some aging, may have creases
Fine- little use, not much aging
Very fine – hardly any use, no aging, next to new all the way to mint
This scale is my own invention, as is the rating, so I have tried my best to capture the condition, but in the end the rating is not guaranteed. In that case, all items purchased can be return for a full refund, if not satisfied with the condition I have placed on them. I hope this will cover any discrepancies that may occur, although I feel I was pretty conservative.
The LPs are rated with 2 marks, the first being for the cover, and the second is for the
record. All the items in the collection are rated according to appearance. The reel to reels
have never been listen to, and I do not know their true condition.

All books are to be shipped book rate, unless specified by buyer, which will pay an extra 2.00$ per book. Shipping charges of framed posters, framed covers, mounted posters, and any other oversized item will have separate shipping rates to be determined at sale. Insurance is optional and will be at the buyers request, and buyer will pay for insurance.
