Climax of the night

I
In this hazy night
Hearts filled with delight,
All, await like children
For lights so bright.

II
When you see,
Amid a black sky
The colors of a rainbow
So brilliant,
And you hear thunder
With no lighting to fallow
No rain to fall.

When you see,
How an explosion
Unfolds into blooming flowers,
Butterflies
Of pink, purple, blue,
Green,
Gold,
Red and white,
Sparkling high above.
And they seem so close to touch:
As you stand feeling
Showers of light
Falling on you.
Living behind
A trace of smoke.

When you hear,
The laughter of children and grown-ups
The sounds of ahhh….ohhhh
Sighs of pleasure.
And suddenly!
At 10 PM for a split second
There's the light of midday
Followed by cheers and clapping,
Then you know,
Another 4th of July culminated.
