Sandy and I made a trip to Stonington last week and it is a beautiful shoreline town. Wealso went to the spot where the lighthouse used to be. It is now a museum. There is a nice little park at the tip of the site. A great spot on a summer afternoon if you venture to that area. I understand too that there is a nice quiet beach nearby for a summer day. Perhaps you might venture down there.
We found too the street where Joseph and Victorine lived at the time of the still birth - TRUMBULL - beautiful large old homes very close together. Very quaint and fisherman village types.
We went to the library and found no records but we were directed to St Mary's cemetery - a pretty little spot on a light grade bounded on one side by the highway and on the other side by the ocean. A beautiful spot to spend eternity.
There were many wooden crosses, grey with age, but unmarked. So we never could find a proper grave - if there ever was one that was marked.
My pictures of the lighthouse (now a museum) were not good. Guess we will have to make a return trip for the lighthouse and their home.
All for another day!
