Kheiran was born and raised on T'aeryn, Earth's sister planet. He was destined by ancient prophecy to either become the Savior of the Earth or it's Destroyer. Since his birth, the balance of power has shifted to the Dark Lord, who has claimed the Earth as his dominion. Kheiran is the young brother of Jareil, the General of Tirisfal. Kheiran never knew his mother very well since she passed away when he was two years old, and since that time was looked after mainly by Jareil. Kheiran's father, a highly decorated and skilled mercenary, fell into deep depression at the loss of his wife, blaming himself and his two sons for her death.

Kheiran was a high-spirited, loving child, a special aura seemed to surround him with mystery. He was highly curious about the world around him, absorbing everything with an unclouded eye. Oftentimes his elder brother would catch him staring at an object or slant of light with utmost concentration, his mind far away from land. He was known to all around him as a dreamer, a sensitive soul, a marvel of childlike innocence.

Jareil fiercely loved and protected Kheiran, keeping him out of the reach of his bitter father and his outbursts. Jareil would take Kheiran's beatings when their father was feeling particularly abusive. When Kheiran grew to be a little older, Jareil forbade him to follow him after dusk had fallen, leaving Kheiran in the cottage alone at every night. Kheiran noticed his brother was becoming more and more distracted with each passing day, his eyes grew colder and darker. He was too young to comprehend that a terrible darkness was taking hold of Jareil's soul, but felt the sadness in the way the light seemed to glance off of him.

One night, when Kheiran was three years of age, he accidentally broke a favorite crystal necklace of his mother's, holding it up to the lamp to make the rainbows dance and sparkle throughout the room. His father returned, surprising him, so that he dropped the necklace and it shattered on the floor. Enraged that his wife's beautiful possession had been damaged, he dragged Kheiran from the cottage, planning to deal out a harsh punishment on him.

Jareil appeared, incensed, and pulled their father away from Kheiran before he had the chance to do any real damage. Kheiran shrank away from his brother, who seemed to nearly glow with anger, a dark shadow was hovering over his shoulders, and a ruby stone pulsed with icy hatred at his chest. Deep into the woods was their father taken by his eldest son. Kheiran never saw his father again after that night.

Jareil took on full care for Kheiran, moving him into a house near the palace at Tirisfal where he could keep a close eye on him. The next three years were filled with uncertainty, his brother had become a hard and ruthless man, softening only when Kheiran was around him. His brother was away from him more often, travelling to Earth on missions, and overseeing his army on T'aeryn. Kheiran was frequently lonely, cared for by Elowyn, the palace herbologist and midwife, during Jareil's long absences. Kheiran often played with the Crown Princess, who was two years younger than him, and the royal family's Guard, Terailion.

On the day before a rare solar eclipse was to occur in the sky - the Earth blocking out the sun for T'aeryn, Jareil took Kheiran out of the palace. He put his brother on the back of a large black wolf-like creature, instructing it to fly to a small deserted island far out into the Mirror Sea. Jareil told Kheiran not to be frightened, that he was putting him in a safe place and would come to take him away from the island in two days.

Kheiran journeyed to the island on the wolf-creature whom he dubbed "Smokey" much to the animal's displeasure. The dark wolf could speak in harsh low tones, and told Kheiran to behave himself in the house on the island. Kheiran waited patiently on the day of the eclipse for the Earth to block out the sun and plunge the planet T'aeryn into a brief period of darkness.

Kheiran could feel that something terribly wrong was happening when the last rays of light faded. Instead of becoming lighter with the sun emerging once again, the air grew colder and darker, filled with a heavy air of foreboding. A black, thunderous cloud overtook the sky, rushing with a furious speed toward the gleaming city of Tirisfal. The dark wave passed high over Kheiran's head, rippling with thousands of black-armored figures. The wolf-creature next to him howled gleefully, the sound piercing Kheiran's heart with a nameless terror.

Kheiran stood by on the shore of the Mirror Sea, watching fearfully as the black shadow engulfed Tirisfal. A great wailing and clash of battle soon reached his ears over the frothing waters. Kheiran was six years old when the peaceful planet of T'aeryn fell to the Armies of Darkness. As he watched the evil hordes devour the innocent people, a dazzling flash of light burst from the very top of the palace. Nearly blinded, he saw the powerful light vaporize everything it touched, tearing the Army of the Damned apart like mist. It radiated outward, breaking through land, fast as lightning toward the Mirror Sea and Kheiran.

The dark wolf fled, abandoning his charge to face the onrushing wall of white fire alone. Kheiran braced himself for the impact and certain death, but it never came. Instead he felt a cool wind and looked up to find himself in the embrace of a tall, beautiful, winged man. He was on T'aeryn no longer but hovering motionless in space, protected from the brilliant light by the graceful wings of the man enfolded around him.

Kheiran mistook him for an angel at first, but it was Helios, the Guardian of the Sun and the Sun's Blade that had saved his life. The radiant Guardian spelled Kheiran asleep and took him to his palace on the Sun. There, Kheiran was told of the fate of T'aeryn and how its Queen had destroyed the Armies of Darkness at the cost of her life. His own destiny was told to him - that he was to be the Savior or the Destroyer of the Earth. The Guardian of the Sun blessed Kheiran with his symbol of Light - a sunburst on his forehead that would remain invisible unless evil threatened him and Kheiran manifested his power. From where Helios had touched Kheiran on his forehead; a permanent lock of silver grew amongst his jet black hair, surrounded by streaks of blue. Helios had spared Kheiran so that he would one day save the Sun's planet of Light.

Kheiran was devastated by the loss of his brother, who surely could have not escaped the oblivion brought on by the Queen's power. Granting Kheiran rest in his palace for a few days, Helios took him to Earth to be raised by a foster family. The wife of a modest farmer spotted him standing alone in their field and took him in, thinking him to be an orphan that had barely escaped from the Great Fall of T'aeryn, which he truly was.

Kheiran was brought up amongst the humble family of five as one of their own, never speaking of his past or the events that befell him. He was watched over closely by Helios throughout his young life who made sure no darkness ever came near him. The Guardian of the Sun waited patiently for the day when Kheiran would have to decide the Earth's fate and tip the balance of power toward life or death, good or evil, light or darkness.
