The Time-ThiefBeware the Time-Thief,
He rides the circle line,
Stealing time,
Not content with what’s on his own wrist,
He begs for other people’s,
"What time have you got mate"
He asks,
"My own" I answer,
All My own,
He asks another,
Then another,
I wonder what he does with all that stolen time,Hoards it ,
Keeps it,
Stores it,
Files it,
Irons it,
Presses it,
Carries it with him wherever he goes,What would he do if I asked him for the time of day?
Would he hold back or would he explode,
Time spilling everywhere,
Fresh,
Unspoilt
Untainted time,
Filling the carriage.
Seconds,
Hours,
Days,
Months,
Years?Time enough for everything,
Time enough for life and death,
A hundred times over
and an eternity to spare.Time to watch,
Time to listen,
Time to smell
And then again,
Time to know,
What time we’re given,
Is all the time we have.Less the time it took to read this.
