It was on one of the last days of January 1993, when I picked up my first Barbara Cartland novel. The title was Heaven in Hong Kong. But it was the next novel, The Taming of Lady Lorinda, that got me hooked. After that, I was reading, ferociously, one B.C. novel after another, and soon enough, I had finished all the B.C. titles that I could find in the school library. From then, I have begun my search for more Barbara Cartlands in the various bookstores I can find. (Till this day, my collection is only slightly over 100. And I have not been lucky enough yet to watch the 5 films.)
For countless afternoons, I have immersed myself in the dreamy world of B.C.'s heros and heroines. Occasionally, I would think to myself: "The next novel cannot be better than this". But often, I have found that I was wrong. The fictional world also provides a means of escape from the real world, whenever I am in low spirits or disillusioned.
For all the joys Barbara Cartland had given me (and many other fans) through her books, I have set up this non-profit and profitless website dedicated to her. I hope that anyone who wishes to know more about this great author will gain something from here, and that fans can be in touch with one another. Although she is no longer with us in this mortal world, she shall live in the hearts of her millions of fans around the world.
Disclaimer:
This is purely a fan-site. The information and the photo of Dame Barbara were sent to me as a reply to a letter that I wrote to her a few years ago when she was alive. I had meant to start this website in 1998, but obviously, had taken considerable time before its completion. News articles on this site have been collected from newspapers over the recent years.
