A cute picture of an Amsterdam canal with a clog-shaped boat
in the foreground.
A pictures of a park outside the Leidesplein, a square in
Amesterdam full of restaurants, cafes, clubs, and shopping. The park has bronze
lizards as its cheif inhabitants.
Here's a shot of the top of the Kalverstraat, one of central
Amsterdam's main shopping streets. The American Book Center is just a couple of
blocks down. I bought a pair of new Dr. Martens about half a block in.
Another shot of one of Amsterdam's beautiful canals.
You can't walk ten feet in this city without seeing something picturesque.
I had a hard time deciding what not to take pictures of.
Here's a shot that from the canal boat tour
that I took. (An outing that I would recommend to all visitors to the city.
Well worth the low price.) This shows (if I were a speedier photographer)
six bridges that can be seen down this canal.
Speaking of canal boat tours, here's the boat I my group rode in.
I chose it because of the name (W.A. Mozart). Many of these canal tour companies operate
within a few steps of Centraal Station.
Here's a photo taken of the back of the office building
of Holland's queen, which is located in Den Haag (The Hague). The two gentleman
in the photo were very friendly, like all police, etc. that I encountered on my
trip. None of that "I'm the law and can fuck up your shit" attitude of U.S. law
enforcement. They wanted to talk to me and when I asked what their job is, one of them answered,
"Waiting."
"Waiting for what?" I asked
"The end," he replied.
"The end of what,
the world or the shift?"
(Laughs) "The shift."
I suggested that they're there to stand around and look good.
On my way to the Riejksmuseum to see some Rembrandts,
I took this gorgeous shot, and subsequently learned that this is the Riejksmuseum.
(On the left behind the canal.)
You've got to get this book if you're going!
It'll make your trip exponentially more fun. And if you get the book without having a trip planned,
you'd better be saving your money, because I see a plane ride in your future. . .
