THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS

The Spirit He led Jesus into the wilderness
The devil he was ready to put Him to the test
For forty days and nights Jesus fasted there
Then he became hungry, but no food was anywhere

Then the tempter came to Jesus and he said
If you are the Son of God, turn these stones to bread
Jesus turned to Satan, "It is written," he said
"Man lives by God's word, not only just by bread."

Then the devil took Him into the Holy City
Set Him upon the Temple, thought he was so witty
Cast yourself down, if you are God's Son
He'll send angels to your aid, they'll bear you up, each one

Again Jesus used the Word, "The Lord your God don't tempt."
But Satan wasn't finished, to the Lord again he went
He took Him to a mountain, all the kingdoms he showed Him
Told Him they were His and all the glory of them

All He had to do now was fall down and worship him
Jesus would have none of that, God's Son who had no sin
He said, "Satan, get thee hence, it's written in God's word
You worship only God, and Him alone you serve."

Then the devil left Him, ministering angels came
Despite all the temptations, Jesus won the game
We can do the same today when Satan is severe
We use our sword, God's Word, and stand in faith, not fear

(Matthew 4:1-11)
