THE RICH YOUNG RULER

A man came running to Jesus
He knelt in front of Him
Good Master what must I do
To have eternal life within
Jesus told him plainly
The list he went down through
He said follow the commandments
That’s what you must do

The young man told the Saviour
I’ve observed them from my youth
Jesus beholding him loved him
Then He told him this truth
One thing you lack said Jesus
Your treasure is here below
Sell all you have, give to the poor
Then treasure in heaven you’ll know

The man was sad at this saying
For great possessions he owned
Grieving, he walked away
He wouldn’t call heaven his home
It’s hard for someone with riches
To enter God’s Kingdom above
For God’s kingdom is different
For it is a kingdom of love

Imagine the eye of a needle
Could a camel indeed go through
I am sure the answer is no
It’s impossible to do
For a rich man to enter heaven
It’s just as hard you see
If his riches are more important
Then where he’ll spend eternity

(Mark 10:17-25)
