THE PASSOVER

They ate the Passover together, the master and His men
Judas Iscariot’s time had come to go out and betray Him
Jesus rose up from the supper and put His garments away
He poured water into a basin to wash their feet that day

When Jesus came to Peter, he didn’t know what to say
He told the Lord He wouldn’t be washing his feet that day
Jesus said, “If I don’t you’ll have no part with Me”
Peter quickly changed his mind for with Jesus he wanted to be

He said I am your Master and I have shown to you
The true act of humility, you must do as I do
You too must be a servant to your fellow man
You follow My example and fulfill God’s command

They learned quite a lesson from Jesus there that day
They learned if they followed Him there was a price to pay
That price was putting others first in all that they would do
That price is still letting God’s love flow forth from me and you

(John 13:1-17)
