MEMORIES

As the twilight shadows deepen
As the sun to bed is laid
I think back to days of childhood
Of the special friends I made
I think of the many memories
As I lie here on my bed
As I look out through the window
The evening star shines overhead

My childhood memories are happy
My childhood memories are sweet
I remember them so fondly
Some within my heart I keep
I remember times of gladness
With two parents who loved me
I remember and I cherish
All the times that used to be

I thought there would be no other
Who'd love me like my family
I thought the love we shared together
Was the best that could ever be
Then I met this loving Jesus
The one who died to set me free
He showed me His love that's lasting
That will last through eternity

He spoke to me when I was feeling
Very sad and all alone
He told me that He loved me
His blood for my sin would atone
He gave all He had to save me
From this life that's full of sin
The only thing I had to do
Was open my heart and let Him in

When I asked the Lord to save me
I felt the difference in my heart
I knew He'd love me forever
And from me He'd not depart
He's proven himself a friend so faithful
He's proven himself a friend so true
He's proven himself a friend so loyal
Allow Him to be a friend to you.
