I suppose my story is a bit different than most I've
seen posted in your guestbook. As stated above, I am
an Atheist. While some of my beliefs and
philosophies are quite different than yours, I am
certian that we live our lives much the same. We d
our best to help others when we can and get along
with our fellow man. We feel intense happiness, we
experience deep anger, we endure sadness. So while
our religion [or lack thereof] rests at different
poles, we are still both good people and worthwhil
human beings.
My hope is that you keep this in mind the next time
you pay the Atheism Cafe a visit; that everyone, no
matter what they do or do not believe in has
feelings. To be judged based on a philosophy and on
that alone tends to make a person hardened and b
tter in some aspects. Most of us in the Cafe are
good people [there's always a few rotten apples in
any bunch]. We are students, teachers, blue collar
workers, nurses, parents, spouses, and are loved and
respected by many people.
Keep that in mind; along with the fact that people
seek out what they need in their lives, be it water,
food or guidance thru religion. If we aren't asking
for it, don't hand out what you hold as sacred where
it will not be appreciated. The majorit
of the atheists I know have grown up with religion
and for various reasons discarded those beliefs. We
don't like to be questioned on it every day, every
time we come into chat with our cyber pals, that's
why you see us bristle. It gets exhausting! He
e we are exchanging recipies, talking about our kids
or or cars and all the sudden have to fend off
uncalled for, rude, intrusive comments and questions.
We are normal. We just think differently.
Most of all, even with as faltering a christian as I
once was, I know that is considered to be wrong to
persecute people, especially non-violent [if angry
at times] people. I just can't understand it - so
many people claiming to be christians come
into the Atheist chat rooms lambasting, damning and
otherwise doling out loads of bilious cruel
criticism. Well, as we all know, humans are not
perfect. However, one ought to at least demonstrate
the beliefs and mores they are pushing WHILE they are
imp
sing them, don't you agree? I just wanted to point
out to you the irony I see in this; I have learned to
find it more and more humorous!
Lastly, I want to let you know that you can feel free
to e-mail me anytime, or find me in chat; I'd be
happy to tell you sometime more about my
philosophies. I am sorry to have gone on so long,
but I do want to say that your page is lovely - I
like
he sky background. I didn't see you mention which
books you have published, I'd like to see them.
