FREE AT LAST

Jesus spoke in the synagogue
It was on the Sabbath day
Then He saw a woman there
Who was bent down quite a way
For eighteen years she’d suffered
And could not stand up straight
It was a spirit of infirmity
That kept her in that state

Jesus, when He saw her
Called her to come to Him
He told her she was loosed
From her infirmity within
He laid His hands upon her
She became straight right away
The woman glorified God
For healing her that day

The ruler of the synagogue
Got very mad that day
Jesus had healed on the Sabbath
So in anger he did say
There are six days in which
All manner of work can be done
But the Sabbath is not the day
So come on some other one

The Lord called him a hypocrite
He said animals you take from a stall
And give them water to drink
With no thought to the Sabbath at all
Ought not this daughter of Abraham
Whom Satan bound that way
Be loosed from her infirmity
Even if it is the Sabbath day

Needless to say they felt ashamed
When Jesus these words spoke
The people rejoiced with her
For her infirmity was broke
Another miracle was done
By Jesus there that day
I’m sure the woman He healed
Went rejoicing on her way

(Luke 13:11-17)
