FOOLISH RICH MAN

When Jesus spoke this parable
His disciples learned that day
To beware of covetousness
To live another way
He said that a man’s life
Is not valued by what he had
Then He told this story
That ended really bad

The ground of a very rich man
Brought fruit forth plentifully
He had more than he could store
Whet to do, he had to see
He said that he’d tear down
All his barns that day
He would build greater ones
Wherein his fruits he’d lay

Then he would say to his soul
You have lots for many years
You now can take it easy
Eat, drink, be merry, no fears
But God had other plans
That night He required his soul
Someone else would have it all
God said he was a fool

For the man had laid up treasure
But was poor when it came to God
Where do you think he went
When he went under the sod
His soul was not prepared
For God he’d had no time
He didn’t share what he had
He wasn’t very kind

Please take a lesson today
If you are blessed by God
Give generously to those in need
Spread God’s love abroad
For you can’t take it with you
But you have an eternal soul
Make helping others your aim in life
Make pleasing God your goal

(Luke 12:15-21)
