Scripture Acts 1: 8-11

Jesus had appeared before His disciples a number of times after he rose from the dead. This time he gave them some instructions. He told them not to leave Jerusalem until they received the gift that God had for them. He promised them that He would send the Comforter and that they would receive power to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. After he told them this He was taken up before them into a cloud and they couldn’t see Him anymore.

I wonder how they felt as they watched Him go? They had been with Him for so long and depended on Him for everything and now He was gone. But while they looked toward heaven two men in white stood by them. The words these men said must have filled their hearts with joy. They said...This same Jesus which was taken up from you into heaven shall come again the same way you have seen him go. What precious words for them to hear at that time.

Do those words also fill your heart with joy? If they don’t, they should. That promise wasn’t just to the ones that watched Jesus as He was taken up. That also applies to all that are born again. Jesus is indeed coming back to this earth just as He went away. And the wonderful thing about it is the fact that no matter what anyone says to the contrary, He will come back. The Bible says it, I believe it and that settles it for me. Hallelujah!! What a glorious hope is ours today. I wonder if today will be the day?

Jesus will come back again
Just as He went away
Keep on looking upward
This just may be the day
