Scripture Philippians 3:13-15

What wonderful words of advice Paul gave in those verses. He said we are to forget the things that are behind us, and press ahead to the prize of the high calling of God.

So many times people find it so hard to forget about certain situations that happened to them at some time in their lives. They dwell on them and keep remembering past sins even though they have asked Jesus to forgive them. They are the ones who can't forget, not Jesus. When He forgives, He also forgets.

It is Satan who will keep bringing things up so he can hurt us, but we can't allow him to keep our thoughts on something that happened in the past. We must give our hurts and problems to Jesus and allow Him to work it out.

Maybe someone has hurt you and resentment has set in. If so, ask yourself these questions. Would Jesus keep resenting someone? Would He keep remembering how He was hurt and hold it against people? The answer is absolutely no. If He did, where would we be today?

Our past is best left in the past. Life is too short to hold grudges. We have to do as Paul said. We must forget about the things behind us and just concentrate on the prize we will receive when we go home to be with Jesus. Live your life as if Jesus were coming back today and praise Him for the inheritance that lies ahead.

Forget the past and press ahead,
Is what Paul says to do.
Forgive the hurts that others cause,
The way Christ forgave you.
