Scripture Matthew 14:23-33

During the storm Jesus came to the disciples walking on the water. Peter told the Lord that if it was really Him, to bid him to go to Him. Jesus said come, and Peter got out of the boat and started to walk toward Him on the water. As long as Peter believed he was safe, he was. But when he started to doubt, he started to sink.

Verse 30 tells us that when Peter started to sink he cried out to the Lord to save him. Verse 31 tells us that Jesus immediately stretched forth His hand and caught him. Then they both went back to the boat. If Peter had continued to look to Jesus he would have made it. However, Peter looked at the storm instead.

We, like Peter, sometimes look at our situations too much. What we really need to be focussing our attention on is Jesus and His ability to be Lord over and in every situation. There is absolutely nothing too hard for Jesus to handle. Peter found that out. After Peter had received the Holy Spirit, he preached a message and 3000 souls were saved. He found victory in Jesus.

It can be the same with us today. As long as we put our faith and trust in an unchanging God, and totally rely on him, we too will come out of every situation, victorious, depending on a God who never fails!

When storm clouds roll into your life
And you are tossed by winds of strife
Look to the one who knows what's best
Just trust on Him, lean on His breast.
