Scripture Colossians 3:12-17

We all know that the world is very fashion conscious. People select their clothing so that everything matches. It seems to be very important to most people how they look on the outside. For the born again believer it should be more important how we look on the inside. What we put on must be according to God's word.

In this scripture we find articles of a spiritual wardrobe. The first piece is "bowels of mercy" or a heart of compassion. We should be able to try to help and understand what someone is going through, even if we haven't experienced it in our own lives. Our clothing must also include kindness, gentleness and a gracious deposition both in word and deed.

We have to be thoughtful, unselfish and encouraging to those who need our help, even if it's inconvenient at the time. Our head covering is humbleness, putting others first. Meekness, or trying to remain calm and silent in times of turmoil and trouble. The most important part is love. The kind of love that says, "I'll love you regardless of what you say and do."

If we wear this spiritual wardrobe all the time, we will be people that God can use to show others that there are still people who care. Most of all they need to know that God cares. We must allow the Holy Spirit to equip us to be the best that we can be. We need to examine ourselves every day to see if we are well-dressed children of God.

Do you care what's on the inside
Or just proud of what's outside
It makes a difference how you live
Your life from God you cannot hide
