Scripture Nehemiah 4:1-6

What a true picture of perseverance and trust is found in these verses. Imagine how Nehemiah and the people must have felt. They had taken on the awesome task of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem and all they met with was trouble and mockery. The task was a very big one, but they were determined to see it through. I like what they did when Tobiah and the others made fun of them.

They didn't get mad and retaliate, like I'm sure they could have. Instead they turned to God and asked him to handle the situation for them. I believe that one of the main reasons they got the work done was because the people had a mind to work. And work they did, right along with Nehemiah. There is quite a lesson for us in verse 6.

God needs people today who also have a mind to work. He needs people who are willing to do His work even when they are mocked and made fun of. A lot of people expect their Pastor and his wife to do all the work. This is not so. We too have a responsibility to work at any task that we see needs to be done, whether big or small.

The Lord needs many workers in His harvest field. None of us can be content to just sit and watch souls go to a lost eternity. Make up your mind today to do a work for God. The reward could be winning some lost soul for Him.

We must gear our minds to work
Continually for the Lord
Do all we can to help Him
According to His word
