Scripture 1 Kings 18:21-39

What an awesome record of one man's complete trust in God. As we can see from the scripture reading, the people were torn between whether they would follow Baal or God. Elijah must have been really fed up with the way the people were acting, so he made a proposition. He said they would each take a bullock, put it on the altar and the one who answered by fire was the true God.

The prophets of Baal went first. They called and called upon their God, but received no answer. They cried louder and even cut themselves, but still nothing. Then it was Elijah's turn. He placed the sacrifice on the altar and told them to take four barrels of water and pour it on the sacrifice and the wood. They did what he said three times and there was so much water that it filled the trench around the altar. Elijah then prayed and Glory to God, the fire of God fell. It consumed the offering, the wood, the stones, the dust and even licked up the water in the trench. The people fell on their faces and said, "The Lord He is God!"

Praise God, He's still the same today. If there is any change, it is in us. His power is just as great now as it was then. When we realize the kind of God we are serving, there is no need for us to be afraid of anything the enemy may bring our way. What a mighty God we serve!

When Elijah faced the enemy
He never had a fear.
He placed his confidence in God
Whom he knew was always there.
