Scripture 1 Kings 3: 16-27

God had given Solomon the wisdom he had asked for. Many times situations were brought before him that unless he had the wisdom of God, he would not have known what to do. This time, two women and a child were brought before him. Both women were claiming to own the same child. Today it would be so easy to prove who the real mother was, but then it wasn’t so easy. The women both claimed that the other had lay on her son during the night and killed him. The King’s solution was to take a sword and cut the baby in half and give half to each of the women.

You can see the logic in his decision, because he knew that to keep her baby alive, the real mother would be willing to give him up to the other woman. Sure enough. The true mother said to give the child to the other woman, but the woman whose son it was not, said to kill it. The King knew instantly who the real mother was and he presented the child to her.

What was it that so compelled the real mother to be willing to give up her son? Love. She loved him so much that she was willing to give him up to keep him alive. What so compelled God to take His Son Jesus and send Him to earth to die on a cross for humanity? Love. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him should have eternal life. (John 3:16) God loves you today. Don’t ever doubt that. He gave the best He had so that you might be set free from your sin. Thank Him every day for what He has done.

Love will always win
No matter what we do
If we do all in love
For us God will come through
