2 Samuel 12: 1-14

David had Bathsheba’s husband killed so he could cover up the fact that she was carrying his baby. He felt no one would find out about what they had done, but God knew. He sent the prophet Nathan to tell David a story about a man who had only one lamb. A rich man that had lots of lambs took the poor man’s lamb, instead of taking one of his own, and cooked it for his guest. David got angry that anyone should do such a thing, until he found out that Nathan was talking about him taking Bathsheba from her husband.

God was very angry at David because he had given his enemies something to talk about. God forgave David but there was a cost. The price he paid was the life of his son. There is absolutely nothing that can be hidden from God. He sees all and He knows all.

People try to do the same thing today that David tried to do. They commit some sin and then do everything in their power to cover up what they have done. We may very well fool people but no one can ever fool God. He knows exactly what we are like. The best thing we can do is admit our sins to God and ask His forgiveness. We can praise Him today because he always forgives. He is not like many of us either, because he also forgets. Let us take an example from David today and do the opposite of what he did.

Don’t try to cover up your sin
Confess them to the Lord
Allow Him to forgive you
According to His word
