Scripture Malachi 1:6-14

When God gave the 10 commandments, one of them said to honour your mother and father. These scriptures also deal with honour. God was saying....A son honours his father and a servant his master, where is the honour and respect that is due Him. Apparently God felt that the priests had despised his name by placing things that were not appropriate on the altar. God had certain rules about what he would accept as a sacrifice, and what they had brought was not fit to be used. Some of the animals were blind, crippled and diseased. God told them that if they offered the same animals to their Governor, he wouldn’t accept them, or be pleased with the people. Yet they expected God to be pleased.

He said He was not pleased and would not accept any offering from their hands. The Lord even said that the one who had an acceptable male animal in his flock, but still sacrificed a blemished one was cursed. God was really particular about what was offered to Him then, and He hasn’t changed today. He still expects His people to give to Him what is rightly due Him.

Ask yourself these questions today? Am I offering my best to God everyday? Is he pleased with what I am giving Him? Does He have first place in my life? Is He the one I calls on when I need help? Do I trust Him for everything? Do I give Him first place in my day or do I simply squeeze Him in when it is convenient for me and when I have the time? How hurt God must be when we offer Him second best. Let’s determine in our hearts today to make God #1 priority in you lives.

If we will offer God our best
Our lives truly will be blessed
When we give Him any old thing
True happiness it will not bring.
