Scripture Romans 11:17-24

This has to be one of my favourite scripture passages in the Bible. Here we are referred to as wild olive shoots grafted into the vine among the others. Because of that, we now share in the nourishing sap from the vine. He reminds us that we do not support the root but the root supports us. We are not to boast because we have been grafted in, even thought others have been broken off. He makes it very clear that if God didn’t spare the natural branches, he will not spare us. They lost out because of unbelief and we stand by faith.

The Jews were God’s chosen people, but because they rejected Jesus as the Messiah, the gospel came to the gentiles. Thank God that it came. It’s true we have nothing to boast in because anything we are, we are because of Jesus and what He did.

God has not forgotten His chosen people just because He allowed us to receive salvation. No, He will never forsake them. There will come a time when they will again be grafted back in. We have so much to be thankful for today. God will never forget us either. He loves us so much. What a wonderful privilege it is to be a part of God’s wonderful family and to share in His glory. Always thank God for the time that you were grafted into His family.

Read John chapter 15 for additional insight.

We once were wild by nature
Then we were grafted in
Because we sought the Saviour
And He forgave our sin.
