God told Noah that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood, and the rainbow was proof that what He said was true. Whenever it rained, even if it was a lot of rain, a rainbow would appear as a sign that they were not to be scared of another flood. God didn’t owe Noah anything, but He was always thinking about mankind.
When you look at a rainbow, do you simply look at it as a thing of beauty and nothing more? From now on, when you see the bow in the sky, remember the covenant that God made with Noah and his family. How excited Noah and his family must have been when God made the covenant with the rainbow that He would no more flood the earth.
How excited we should be today when we realize the covenant that God has made with us through Jesus. The blood covenant. Not just the blood of some animal, but the precious blood of the lamb of God, Jesus. It is a covenant of eternal life. (John 3:16....For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) What a covenant!!!! Praise you Father God.
