Scripture 1 Peter 4:12-18

We as Christians shouldn’t always think that life will always be smooth and easy. Just because we are saved does not mean we will live a trouble free life. There may come a time when we will have to suffer for the gospel of Jesus Christ. When this happens we should not think it is strange. Verse 13 says we should rejoice when we are a part of Christ’s sufferings. If we suffer because of knowing Jesus, for His name’s sake, we should be happy about it.

Verse 17 says that the time is coming when judgement will begin at the house of God. There are many who claim to be “leaders” today in the house of God that are leading many astray. Also there are many that attend the house of God that live like they want six days a week and put on their spiritual faces when they go to church. Who they think they are fooling I have no idea, because God sees all and knows all.

Verse 18 says that if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the sinner and ungodly appear. When we claim to be born again, we cannot live our lives any old way at all and not expect to answer to God for it. We will reap what we sow. If we are going to suffer in this life as a Christian, let it be for the gospel and not because of some wrong thing we have done.

When we stand before God, I am sure there is not one of us who wants to stand there ashamed. May we all be able to stand in confidence, knowing that we did the very best we could.

If any man does suffer
Because of doing good
It shouldn’t come as a surprise
For scripture says we would
