Then He added something. He said that when they were praying, if they had something against anyone, they were to forgive so that God could forgive them of their sin. But, he said, if you don’t forgive , God won’t forgive your sins. What a statement!!! There are many people today who are holding a grudge against someone and feel that God totally understands why they feel that way. They actually try to justify the reason that they can’t forgive the one who wronged them.
But, these verses of scripture are very plain and to the point and very easy to understand. What Jesus was saying is this....If you don’t forgive someone who has wronged you, I won’t forgive you when you do something wrong.
Un-forgiveness is a sin. If God didn’t forgive us when we first asked Him to, what an awful state we would be in today. Search your heart and see if there is anyone that you haven’t forgiven. If there is, forgive them and make things right and then God will forgive you when you also make mistakes. Forgive if you want to be forgiven.
