Scripture John 3: 30-36

John the Baptist was a man who was sent by God to prepare the way for Jesus to come on the scene. John preached a gospel of repentance. He always made reference to the one that would come after him. He was talking about Jesus. In verse 30 John said...He must increase but I must decrease. John knew that when Jesus came on the scene he would not be as popular as he was. But, he also knew who Jesus was and that He was sent from God. He said that Jesus would speak God’s words, and anyone who believed in Him would have eternal life.

I believe we all must have the same attitude that John had in verse 30. Jesus must increase and we must decrease. We who are doing a work for the Lord must never be considered more highly than the one we are working for. Jesus must receive all the glory, not just some. We are simply vessels through which His power flows. Don’t ever set yourself in a place above Jesus. We are nothing compared to Him.

There is so much that needs to be done today in the world for Jesus. God is looking for people who are willing to be used for him to reach the lost. He is not looking for people with a lot of ability. He is more concerned about your availability. Make yourself available to Him today and allow Him to use you to do a work for Him. We should be thankful for the privilege to be doing anything for the Lord. Be sure, be very sure that when working for the Lord that you decrease and He does indeed increase.

Don’t set yourself on high
Place Jesus always there
Always put Jesus first
His glory He won’t share
