I guess it would have been like many of the tourist attractions of today. People would come from miles around to see it and they would indeed make a name for themselves. Imagine the imagination they had. God looked down and saw what they were planning and decided it wasn’t a good idea to allow them to do what they had planned. So, thus other languages were born.
Can you imagine the confusion as one man spoke to another only to find that they couldn’t understand each other. So despite what they wanted and hoped to accomplish by the tower, God scattered them all over the earth. The tower was therefore called Babel, meaning confusion.
When I read this scripture I look at the awesomeness and wisdom of God. I am always totally amazed. When I look around today and see what man has invented and some of the amazing things that are on the market, I can see that God was right about mankind. Today, nothing restrains people from doing and inventing everything they can imagine. That’s why the world is so sinful. Be careful what you imagine in your heart today. God may just bring a halt to it and you may end up in total confusion.
Whatever your plans are, bring them before the Lord and lay them at His feet. allow His will to be done and when you do that He will bring about in your life what should be there according to His divine will.
