Scripture Acts 2: 1-18

The disciples had been true to the command Jesus had given them. They had stayed in the upper room until the Holy Spirit had come and what a change had come over them. They were all in one accord when the Holy Spirit fell on them like tongues of fire. There was no way for the Jews that were visiting from other places to doubt that this was from God because they heard the disciples talking the wonderful things of God in their own languages. They knew that there was no way a group of ordinary fishermen could possibly have learned their language, unless it was God.

Others that were there said that they were drunk. In a way they were right. But, they were not drunk with wine but with the presence of the Holy Spirit as he flowed through them. Peter stood up and told the crowd that this was the fulfilment of scripture. He told them that the prophet Joel had said that God would pour out his Holy Spirit upon ALL flesh in the last days. That day this prophecy had come to pass and the Holy Spirit had come.

Praise God for the precious Holy Spirit. Was it not the convicting power of the Holy Spirit that spoke to our hearts and convicted us of our sins and caused us to turn to Jesus? Is it not Him that speaks to our hearts when we do something wrong and gently helps us be restored. Is He not with us every day guiding us in the ways that are right? Whatever your need today, allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. He is right by your side.

God’s Holy Spirit Came
On the day of Pentecost
He tells us more of Jesus
And convicts those who are lost
