Scripture Acts 21: 10-14

For me as a Christian, I have never heard of anyone here where I live being put in chains because of their faith in Jesus Christ. I sometimes wonder how we would react if someone told us that we would be put in prison and perhaps even die if we kept preaching the gospel. This is what happened to Paul here. A prophet named Agabus came to Paul and bound his hands and told him that the Holy Ghost says that he would be bound in that way and delivered into the hands of the Gentiles.

We see that his friends tried to persuade him not to go to Jerusalem. Did Paul agree with them? No. He told them that it hurt him to hear them cry, but he said he was not only willing to be bound, but also to die for the name of Jesus. He was so insistent that his friends finally said that the Lord’s will should be done. That is what they should have said in the first place.

Paul had committed his life to Jesus and he was even willing to die for the gospel if he had to. Paul knew what he believed and rather than compromise, he was willing to die. Are we as willing as Paul was to die for what we believe? If we knew today that we would be killed for our faith, would we still be willing to share it? A lot to think about isn’t it? Make sure that you always say yes to doing the will of God, and spreading the gospel, no matter what the cost.

The cost of service may be great
Are you willing to pay the price
Are you willing to take your stand
For the gospel of Jesus Christ
