Scripture Daniel 4: 29-37

King Nebuchadnezzar was walking in his palace when he made a statement that he would live to regret. He praised himself for the great Babylon that he had built. He said that it was done by the might of his power and for the honour of his majesty. While the words were still in his mouth, he heard a voice from heaven telling him that his kingdom had departed from him.

He was also told that he would dwell with the beasts and eat grass as the oxen for seven years until he knew that God was the ruler of all and that the glory for everything belonged to God, not him. What God said would happen came to pass exactly as he said it would. The King ended up eating grass and the hairs on his body grew like eagles feathers and his nails like birds claws. But , it worked. Nebuchadnezzar finally blessed, praised, and honoured God like he should have done in the first place.

He realized that God can bring anyone down from walking in pride. He learned a hard lesson. This, like many other things that happened to people are left on record that we can also learn from them. No matter how high, powerful or rich we are, all the glory for what we have and are, belongs to God. We are not to lift ourselves up in any way or think more highly of ourselves than we are. (Romans 12:3) The only one worthy of praise, honour and glory is God.

God alone is worthy
To be honoured and praised
Whatever happens in our life
All glory to Him we raise
