Scripture 1 Corinthians 3: 16-17. 6: 15-20

Do you feel that your body is your own and that you can do whatever you like with it? Many abuse their bodies by drinking, smoking etc. The list could go on and on. For us who are born again it has to be different. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. God’s Holy Spirit dwells in us and what we put into our bodies affects Him too.

One of the things warned against in these verses is fornication, sex outside of marriage. There has never been anything in this world that is more overrated in importance as sex. Sex is even used today for promotional purposes for selling things. The theme when it comes to sex in today’s society seems to be,”anything goes.” This is not right in God’s eyes.

Our eyes are also a part of our bodies. How can we who are filled with God’s Holy Spirit look at the filth and the dirt that comes through our TV screen and in the things we read, like dirty jokes etc. and feel good about it? Our ears are part of our body, so we must be careful what we listen to. Our tongue is also part of our body. So we have to be very careful what comes out of our mouth. Every part of out body should be kept under control because God’s Holy Spirit is within us.

According to verse 19, we are not our own. We were bought with a price. That price being the precious blood of Jesus. So we are to glorify God in our body as well as in our Spirit. Considering who’s we are, let us protect every part of our body from all evil, ever mindful of the one that is within us.

God’s Holy Spirit dwells
Inside of you today
Be very careful all you do
And also all you say
