Scripture Mark 12: 41-44

Back in the days when Jesus walked the earth people cast their money into a treasury. They didn’t go to church like we do and put our offering in an envelope for no one to see. When they gave their offering, their money was placed in a public money bin for all to see. The rich put in much and I am sure made a great deal about what they were giving, but for the poor it was different.

Jesus noticed a little widow woman as she approached the box. She threw in about four cents in our money. She must have felt that the gift she gave was very small in comparison to what the rest gave. That is not what Jesus thought. Jesus called His disciples over and told them that she had put in more than the rest because she had given all she had. The others had cast in out of their abundance, knowing full well that there was more where that came from. She gave out of her need, not knowing where anymore would come from. What a difference in the two givers.

Maybe as you need this, you may be like the widow woman. Maybe what you give to God seems small in comparison to what everyone else gives. As long as you give what you can, what you know is right in your heart, God will be pleased. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7) God doesn’t expect you to give what you don’t have, only what you can. Most important is that you give of yourself every day so that He can use you.

When giving to the Lord
Give what is right and fair
Trust Him to meet your needs
He knows your every care
