When the King asked Haman what should be done, Haman just assumed it was him the King wanted to honour. So he suggested that the person be dressed in the King's clothes, the crown put on his head and ride upon the King's horse. He said he should be led through the streets proclaiming that he was being honoured by the King. Imagine Haman's surprise when he found out it wasn't him the King was going to honour, but Mordecai, whom he hated. The worse was yet to come for Haman. The King told him to do all he had suggested to Mordecai and that he go ahead of the horse proclaiming that Mordecai was being honoured. Imagine his embarrassment.
Don't let happen to you what happened to Haman. Haman had lifted himself above everyone and felt within himself that he should be bowed down to and honoured. When we set ourselves up on a pedestal we are headed for a terrible fall. The Bible says in (Rom.12:3) that we are not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought. Never put yourself above anyone else because we are all the same in the sight of God. He loves each of us equally. There are no favourites with God.
