Scripture 2 Kings 4:8-37

What a picture of complete trust in God. God had given the Shunemmite woman a son, but he died of sunstroke. The woman didn't even tell her husband that the boy had died but set out to find the prophet. She knew in her heart that if she could reach the man of God, he would petition God on her behalf. She refused to accept the death of her son and when asked how he was, she said,"It is well."

To a lot of people it might seem like she was lying. I feel she was looking at the situation with her spiritual eyes, not her physical eyes. She needed a mediator and she found one in Elisha.

There are so many people today who need a mediator. Praise God we have one. The Lord Jesus Christ is our mediator and He is seated at God's right hand making intercession for us. Jesus Himself told His disciples that they could pray to the Father in His name.

Elisha was a man of God, but like any human, could only live for a short time. Jesus our mediator, the Son of the living God, will be our mediator forever. If we remain faithful to God while we live on earth and do what pleases Him, one day we will go to live with Jesus our mediator forever.
