Scripture Genesis 3:1-19

Until this day in the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve lived happy and sinless lives. Satan then tempted Eve and because she gave into the temptation, sin came into the world. Adam and Eve had everything. Their lives were perfect, but because of what they did, each one, including the serpent, paid the price.

If you sin, you will have to pay the consequences one way or another. Satan may not use a serpent to cause us to sin, but be assured, he will use something. Sometimes he uses other people. They tell you that just a little bit of something won't hurt you and before you know it you are out of control Satan knows that a lot of people have the spirit of indulgence and just a little never satisfies.

We need to have self-control. We need to be able to stand up to certain things and say absolutely no. God doesn't want His people lacking and without the things they need. He said he would supply our every need, not our every want. If we are living close to God and in tune with His Holy Spirit, He will warn us when something is wrong for us.

We have to live different from the world. The world is gone mad over materialistic things. What does the child of God want with an over abundance of things? Our permanent dwelling is not here. We can't take it with us when we leave. Be very careful not to get so caught up in things that you forget the one who gives them.

The devil, he will tempt
It's up to us to yield
Be content with what you have
And be workers in God's field
