Scripture Exodus 16:13-20

The children of Israel had been murmuring and complaining against God ever since they left Egypt. Here they were saying that God had brought them out into the desert to die of hunger and thirst. God came through for them once again by bringing water from a rock and quails and manna to eat.

God told Moses to tell the people not to leave any of the manna until morning. Some disobeyed, so in the morning it was all full of worms and stank. So did the lives of the people who were disobedient stink. Disobedience is like a foul smelling odour in the nostrils of God.

The Israelites when they disobeyed, always had to pay the consequences and so will we if we disobey. We must decide today if we are going to obey God and do what He tells us to do. Jesus said in John 15:14,"Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." We must obey the commands of Jesus if we are to live a life that is pleasing to Him. God didn't tolerate disobedience in the lives of the people in Moses' day. He will not tolerate it in our lives either. God hasn't changed, if there is a change, it is in us. We must examine our lives everyday to make sure that we are not being disobedient to God.

Disobedience always led to defeat
In the lives of God's people back then
It's the same with us, His people today
We obey if we hope to win
