Scripture 2 Kings 2:9-17

As I read this passage, I couldn't help but think about the rapture of the church. A lot of people feel that there is no way the rapture can take place. They question how a person can be on earth one second and be caught up in the air the next. I believe that this passage shows that it can indeed happen.

Elijah knew that he was going away. I don't know if he knew how, because the scripture doesn't say. How did he go? Did he die? No indeed. He was alive and well when there appeared before him a chariot and horses of fire. WOW! What a sight! One minute he was on the ground and the next he was up in the air. He not only went up in a chariot and horses of fire, but the word also says that he went up in a whirlwind. What a spectacular sight!

We can be assured that there is going to be another one. Millions of people are going to be caught up in the air at the same time. The bible tells us in 1 Thess 4:16 that the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we who are alive in Christ will be caught up to meet our Lord in the air. What a hope! What a blessed assurance!

Whether you believe it or not won't stop it from happening. Make no mistake about it. If God said it will happen, then it will. You can count on it. Why not prepare yourself for this event. Then when Jesus returns, you too will be caught up to live with Him forever.

Caught up to meet our blessed Lord
Oh what a hope divine
Accept the Lord into your life,
Or you'll be left behind
