Scripture Matthew 27:26-41

These verses describe the awful details of how Jesus was treated before He was crucified. We can see how much He suffered. We have to remember that all He suffered, He suffered for us.

Do you think Jesus enjoyed being beaten with stripes? Do you think He liked it when they put the crown of thorns on His head and pressed it down so hard that the thorns were driven into His precious brow? Do you think he enjoyed being spit upon, struck on the head, mocked and lead away to be crucified? No, of course He didn't enjoy any of it. He felt the pain of everything that happened. Remember, He was in human form.

He loved us so much that He was not only willing to suffer the pain, but also the humiliation. He took our sins upon Himself and suffered death upon the cross. Why did He do it? The answer is found in 1 Peter 3:18. It tells us that Christ suffered for our sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. Jesus became our sacrifice once and for all. He died to reconcile us to the Father. He gave His all for us. Is it not right that we give Him our all? Re-read the passage again and let it sink deep into your Spirit. Oh the awesome suffering our Saviour endured was just for you and me.
