Scripture Acts 12:21-24

If you read the beginning of this chapter, you would see that Herod was persecuting and even killing the apostles because it pleased the people. We can also see from the verses we read, that he felt no remorse whatsoever for what he had done. On this particular day, he sat on his throne and spoke to the people.

As he spoke to them, they said that his voice was the voice of a god, not a man. He should have said that. there is only one God, but he didn't, he accepted the praise. He gave no glory to God and because he didn't, an angel of the Lord smote him and he was eaten by worms and died.

I wonder what the reaction of the people were when they saw their "god" die. Man should not be put on the same level as God. We should never think too highly of ourselves. 2 Corinthians 10:12 says that we have to be careful when we think we are standing alright, because it's then we could fall.

Anything that we do for the Lord should be credited to God's ability and not our own. When God uses us to do something, we don't do it on our own. All the glory belongs to God. Outside of Him, we are nothing. In Him we live, move and have our being. Acts 17:28a.

Don't let your pride take over
As upon this earth you trod
It's only by His Spirit
You do a work for God.
