Jesus was so concerned about sin that He went as far as to say that if your hand causes you to sin, you cut it off. If your foot causes you to sin you cut that off. If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. What Jesus was saying was that it was better to go to heaven with one less hand, foot or eye, than to go to hell with everything in tack.
He described hell as a place where the fire is never quenched and the worm never dies. The statement that struck me most of all was in Verse 49. It says that everyone will be salted with fire. Imagine you have your dinner in front of you and it is fresh. So, you decide to put salt on it. What do you do? You sprinkle salt all over the food. That is the way it will be in hell. If I went to hell, I would be like the food and the flames of hell would be like the salt. Awful picture, isn't it? But, it's reality. If you don't know Him, invite Him into your heart before its too late? If you do know Him, make sure nothing pulls you away from Him. Then you won't have to face the torments of hell.
