Scripture Matthew 7: 7-12

If your son or daughter came to you today and asked you for something eat, would you give them rocks? That is the jest of the question that Jesus was asking. He was making a comparison between how you would treat your children, as to how He would treat us, His children. We as parents will do everything in our power to do all we can to help our children when they are in need. Is God not as good as we are? Is He unjust? Will He give us something that will hurt us instead of help us? Of course the answer to all of these questions is no.

God is our heavenly Father, the one who loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for our sin. Just as we would want nothing but the best for our children, He wants nothing but the best for us. He wants us to be happy and have our needs met. But He does require that we do something in return, and verse 12 tells us what that is. He expects us to treat others the same way that we would like to be treated. Thus was born the golden rule....Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

Don't ever treat anyone in a way that you wouldn't want to be treated. Be fair in all you say and do. Show love and kindness to all you come in contact with and God will reward you as you follow what He said to do.

Don't ever treat your neighbour
As some men may treat you
Be good and kind and gentle
Let Christ's love shine through you
