Scripture 1 Samuel 16: 1-7

The Lord felt that the time for mourning for Saul was over so he told Samuel to go and anoint one of Jesse's sons as king. Samuel was a bit scared because he knew that if Saul heard about it, he would kill him. God made a way for him and so he went. When Samuel looked at certain of Jesse's sons he felt that God would certainly choose one of them. God told him not to look at the outside appearance. Then He said that He doesn't see as man sees because He looks at the heart, not the outward appearance.

How many times do we look at someone and form an opinion as to what they are like simply by what we see. So many times they are the exact opposite of what we think they are like. I myself am so thankful that God looks at what is inside, the real me. Isn't it wonderful to know that no matter what we do, God looks at our hearts and knows the true motives as to why we do it. So often we are misunderstood and people may take us the wrong way. But not God because He always knows what is right and He doesn't see us as the world sees us. He looks deep inside our heart and knows exactly the kind of person we are.

So, if you are someone who is misunderstood sometimes, don't get discouraged, but remember, God knows exactly what is right. He knows if what you are doing is what He would have you to do, and He also knows why you are doing it. What matters most is what He sees in your heart.

Don't look at what's outside
For God looks on the heart
Make sure your heart is pure
From every sin depart
